  • Cold Extrusion Forming Cold Forging Technology

    Date:2020-10-27

At present, cold extrusion technology has been widely used in fasteners, machinery, instrumentation, electrical appliances, light industry, aerospace, shipbuilding, military and other industrial sectors, and has become an indispensable important processing tool in metal plastic volume forming technology. After World War II, cold extrusion technology has been widely used in the automotive, motorcycle, household appliances and other industries in foreign industrialized countries, and the emergence of new extrusion materials, new steel molds and large-tonnage presses has expanded. Expansion capacity. Japan claimed in the 1980s that 30% to 40% of the parts produced by the forging process in its car production were produced by cold extrusion. With the advancement of technology and the continuous improvement of product technology requirements in the automotive, motorcycle, household appliances and other industries, the cold extrusion production technology has gradually become the development direction of small and medium forgings.

Advantages of cold extrusion Cold forging technology

Compared with other processing techniques, cold extrusion has the following advantages:

    1) Saving raw materials. Cold extrusion is the use of plastic deformation of metal to make parts of the desired shape, thus greatly reducing the cutting process and improving the material utilization. The material utilization rate of cold extrusion can generally reach more than 80%.

    2) Improve labor productivity. By using a cold extrusion process instead of cutting to make parts, productivity can be increased by several, dozens, or even hundreds of times.

    3) It is possible to machine parts with complicated shapes and difficult to machine. Such as profiled sections, complex internal cavities, internal teeth and internal grooves that are invisible on the surface.

    4) Reduce the cost of parts. Since the cold extrusion process has the advantages of saving raw materials, increasing productivity, reducing the amount of machining of parts, and using poor materials to substitute high-quality materials, the cost of parts is greatly reduced.
